Fly north to Meru National Park, a vast, untamed paradise where wildlife roams freely amid lush riverine forests and volcanic hills. Your home, the iconic Elewana Elsa’s Kopje Lodge, is carved into a rocky hillside overlooking the savannah where Elsa the lioness once roamed—forever immortalized in the classic film Born Free. Days here are filled with exhilarating game drives across the park’s diverse habitats, guided bush walks, and serene moments by the infinity pool as the sun dips behind distant hills.

On arrival at the airport, meet your guide. You will be transferred to Villa Rosa Kempinski.

This morning fly on Air Kenya from Wilson airport to Meru National Park. On arrival at Meru Airstrip, you will be met and driven the short distance to your home for the next three nights, Elewana Elsa’s Kopje Lodge, a luxury lodge situated within Meru National Park. Eat a delicious lunch and relax poolside before heading out on your first game drive in the cool of the afternoon. Return to the lodge just before dark and enjoy a candlelit dinner before you settle in for an evening of preparation for the adventures ahead

Overnight: Elsa’s Kopje Lodge

Wake up early to fresh coffee or tea bedside before you head out on an early game drive at first light. Take with you a packed breakfast or choose to eat a full breakfast once back at the camp. Keep your eyes open for lions, leopards, and cheetahs as you spend the morning exploring the Bisinandi Reserve. Opt for a short guided walk on the reserve before lunch. Next, head out to the Rhino Sanctuary to spot some of the 60 black and white rhino that call this place home. Finish off your day by fishing in one of the stunningly clear rivers for catfish, barble or tilapia, which if successful can be cooked up for dinner! Dine back at lodge before a restful sleep.

Overnight: Elsa’s Kopje Lodge

This morning, don’t forget your packed lunch as we head out for a full day to the Tana River. Keep a keen eye out as you sit back and relax on this wonderful game drive. Stop by the grave of the famous lioness, Elsa, forever immortalized in the film, Born Free. On our return to lodge this afternoon, we will visit the Boran Cultural Center as well as the local school.

You will spend the two days in Laikipia as we start travelling to Sosian Ranch (5 – 6 hours) in our comfortable 4x4 land cruiser, eating breakfast along the way. We will drive through the pretty Nyambene Hills, onto the foot slopes of Mt Kenya and then back down onto the Laikipia Plateau, making a stop along the way for snacks in Nanyuki. We arrive at &Beyond Suyian Lodge, a 24,000-acre private, working ranch, in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you may opt for a horseback or camel ride to explore the southern end of the ranch or take a walk along the river, pausing to take in the stunning waterfalls at your turnaround point. Eat an early dinner before we head out for a night safari with spotlights in search of leopard and other nocturnal animals, such as aardvark and the smaller gennet and serval cats.

Overnight: & Beyond Suyian Lodge

After a delicious breakfast at &Beyond Suyian Lodge, bid farewell as you transfer to Nanyuki Airstrip for a scenic one-hour flight to the Masai Mara. Upon arrival, a guide will greet you and drive you to Lalashe Safari Camp, nestled in the Olare Orok Conservancy. That afternoon, embark on your first game drive into the Mara North Conservancy, renowned for its abundant wildlife and high chances of spotting big cats. As the sun sets, enjoy a sundowner by the campfire overlooking the vast Mara ecosystem, followed by a hot shower and a candlelit dinner in the mess tent.

The next day begins with an early wake-up call and a full-day safari in the Masai Mara Reserve. Journey to the Mara River to witness dramatic wildebeest and zebra crossings through crocodile-infested waters. With your camera ready, capture unforgettable moments and breathtaking wildlife encounters before returning to camp for dinner under the stars.

On your final day, enjoy a hearty breakfast before visiting a local Maasai village to experience traditional herding life and shop for handmade crafts. Stop by the guiding school that trained Eclipse Mara’s expert guides, then return to camp for lunch and one last game drive with a sundowner. After a farewell dinner, rest well before your morning flight back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, where your onward journey begins.

After breakfast, you will take your final scheduled flight back to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. From here, you will follow through with your post trip plans or take your flight back home.

These Terms and Conditions apply to all safari packages offered by Zakale Expeditions. By booking with us, you agree to adhere to the following policies:

1. Amendment Policy

At Zakale Expeditions, we understand that travel plans can change. We strive to accommodate your needs while maintaining service quality.
Amendment Terms:

  • Request Notice: All amendment requests must be made in writing via email to our official address.
  • Timeline: Amendments can be requested up to 14 days before the scheduled departure.
  • Approval: Amendments are subject to availability and approval by Zakale Expeditions.
  • Fees:
    • Amendments made 14 days or more before the trip will incur no additional fee.
    • Amendments made less than 14 days before the trip may attract a processing fee of up to 10% of the total booking cost.
  • Changes Allowed: Date changes, accommodation upgrades, and itinerary adjustments can be requested, subject to availability.

2. Cancellation Policy

We understand that cancellations can happen due to unforeseen circumstances. Our cancellation policy is structured to balance fairness for both clients and service providers.
Cancellation Terms:

  • Request Notice: All cancellations must be submitted in writing.
  • Timeline & Charges:
    • More than 30 days before departure: 10% of the package cost will be charged as a cancellation fee.
    • 15-30 days before departure: 30% of the package cost will be charged.
    • 7-14 days before departure: 50% of the package cost will be charged.
    • Less than 7 days before departure: No refunds will be provided.
  • No Show: If a client fails to appear for the safari without prior notice, no refund will be issued.

3. Refund Policy

Our refund policy ensures transparency and fairness while covering necessary operational costs.
Refund Terms:

  • Eligibility: Refunds will only be processed for cancellations made within the specified timelines.
  • Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 14 business days after approval.
  • Refund Method: Refunds will be issued using the original payment method used during booking.
  • Non-Refundable Items: The following costs are non-refundable:
    • Park entry fees
    • Airline tickets (unless the airline’s policy allows)
    • Travel insurance premiums
    • Third-party activity bookings made on behalf of the client
  • Force Majeure: No refunds will be provided for cancellations due to events beyond our control, such as natural disasters, pandemics, or political instability.

4. Partial Payment Policy

Zakale Expeditions allows flexible partial payment plans to make travel planning easier.
Partial Payment Terms:

  • Deposit Requirement: A minimum deposit of 30% of the total package cost is required to secure the booking.
  • Balance Payment: The remaining balance must be cleared at least 14 days before the trip departure date.
  • Failure to Complete Payment: If full payment is not received within the specified timeline, the booking may be considered canceled, and the deposit will be non-refundable.
  • Payment Plans: Flexible payment plans can be arranged upon request and subject to written agreement.

5. Data Protection Policy

We are committed to safeguarding your personal information and ensuring your privacy.
Data Protection Terms:

  • Data Collection: We collect personal data necessary for processing bookings, including names, contact details, and passport information.
  • Use of Data: Your data will be used strictly for booking, processing payments, customer communication, and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Data Sharing:
    • Personal data will not be shared with third parties unless required for completing bookings (e.g., hotels, airlines, park authorities).
    • Zakale Expeditions does not sell or trade customer data.
  • Data Storage: All personal information is stored securely and retained only as long as necessary for operational and legal purposes.
  • Client Rights:
    • You have the right to access, update, or request the deletion of your data.
    • To exercise these rights, please contact us via our official channels.

6. General Conditions

  • Travel Documents: Clients must ensure they possess valid travel documents, including visas and health certificates.
  • Travel Insurance: We recommend obtaining comprehensive travel insurance before departure.
  • Health & Safety: Clients are responsible for meeting all health requirements and complying with COVID-19 protocols if applicable.
  • Liability: Zakale Expeditions is not liable for any personal injuries, loss of personal items, or incidents occurring due to circumstances beyond our control.

7. Acceptance of Terms

By booking a safari package with Zakale Expeditions, you acknowledge and accept these Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to modify these policies without prior notice.
